Brecon mountain railway is situated 3 miles North of MerthyrTydfil.

This a day out for enthusiasts of the age of steam.

From the station of Pant you will travel the whole length of the Taf Fechan reservoir, one of the loveliest places in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The whole trip takes about 65 minutes which includes a 20 min stop at Pontstcill for refreshments.

You can stay longer at Pontsticill if you wish as long as you dont miss the last train back!

After returning to Pant station, you can visit the small workshops where the locomotives are repaired, or take a stroll along the footpath to a picnic site and take in the views of the valley. There is a new childrens play area at Pontsticill which is proving very popular with children

This is a very good spot to relax and enjoy the view across the Reservoir, whilst the children play safely.  There are picnic tables here also.

There is a cafeteria, souvenir shop, and toilets. There are full facilities for the disabled including a specially adapted carriage for wheel chairs.
